Dell's Scholars

“Education is life changing,” says Mike.

This was part of the Inspirational Message given by Mike Garrison, Country Manager of Dell Philippines, during the “Dell Scholars Appreciation Dinner” held at TGIF Makati last Tuesday, 12 June 2007.

“Through education, opportunities and new goals will open up and everyone must take full advantage of it. I would like to applaud you all for taking these steps,” says Mike.

The first batch of scholars got their own “back to school” bags during Tuesday’s event. These bags included free gifts like an IOU Card for a special Dell Scholar Silver Pen and other school items. They also received their official Dell Scholars T-Shirts.

“Wear these t-shirts with pride,” adds Mike.

Lod from the Learning and Development Team of Dell said that they never really expected to get many applicants. “Next year, we hope to get more scholars. Dell has a huge heart to accommodate more,” says Lod. “Hopefully, the scholars will bring back to Dell the skills and knowledge from their further education.”

During the program, Lod and Amie played hosts to a trivia game, which tested the knowledge of the Dell Scholars. While I chatted with Angel Lozari, an old friend of mine when I was my presence was still felt in the corridors of St. Paul College, Quezon City.

In the end, the scholars are challenged to make their presence felt in school and bring back to Dell Philippines learning and knowledge that would contribute to their own personal and profession al growth!
